The Canmore Multi-Use Development (IPlace) is an innovative employee housing project designed to meet the growing needs of Canmore's workforce while seamlessly integrating both commercial and residential spaces. Located in the heart of Canmore, Alberta, this architectural endeavor provides an efficient and sustainable solution to housing challenges, offering a modern, vibrant environment that supports both business operations and residential living.
The development emphasizes community-focused design, combining affordable housing for employees with essential commercial space in one cohesive structure. The program consisted of 12 commercial spaces on the main floor and 50 residential units on the second and third floors. This approach fosters a unique blend of work-live convenience, addressing the critical demand for employee housing in a rapidly growing community. The building incorporates sustainable design principles, ensuring a reduced environmental footprint through energy-efficient systems, eco-friendly materials, and thoughtful landscape integration that mirrors the surrounding natural beauty of Canmore.
The residential component of the building will offer a mix of one, two, three, and four-bedroom units. The building will also include shared facilities such as a fitness centre, communal lounge, rooftop Patio, dog wash area, and bike / snowboard Repair stations.
As the Prime Consultant on this Design-Build project, T.i. STUDIOS was responsible for managing and coordinating the entire team of consultants through all phases of the project, from inception to completion. The firm's leadership ensured a streamlined and collaborative process, balancing the functional needs of residents and businesses with the aesthetic and environmental demands of the location.
T.i. STUDIOS' hands-on approach, paired with its commitment to high-quality design and community-focused development, resulted in a successful project that serves as a model for employee housing solutions and integrated urban living in Canmore.
